I like it when clothes have a story and I like finding things that move me somehow but I think it’s very important to not make fashion too much of a thing in your life. It’s a tool to show who you are to the world but only if you’re privileged enough to to be able to worry about it.

"My father left for war in 1992, and never came home. Our mother didn’t tell us he was dead for a long time. We just thought he was still fighting. But one day we were being extremely difficult, and she started crying, and said: "Please behave. I’m a single mother now. So I’m going to need you’re help."(Juba, South Sudan)

In an effort to raise money, the Washington Humane Society pairs up with a local pool at the end of the year and hosts a “dog swim”. This was our first year doing it and it was a BLAST! There had to have been 300 dogs there. Henry did amazing! He is a great swimmer and behaved nicely around so many dogs. He got a little stressed when we were separated and would get out of the pool to survey the area and find the rest of the family.

I was nervous going into it because I usually don’t trust other people’s dogs, especially when the only criteria was “social dogs welcome”. Honestly the dogs were great and I felt okay letting my daughter in the pool with them. We kept a close eye on everyone - one person always with Henry (and not off leash like some of the others) and one person with kiddo.

Overall, it was the happiest day of my life to swim with so many dogs and be surrounded by DOGS DOGS DOGS. Poor Henry is exhausted tho lol

"Our team is called the Young Boys. We grew up in this neighborhood, so we wanted to give the local kids something to do after school. We bought them balls and shoes with our own money, and for game days, we go around and beg local churches for a place to play. We want to keep them very busy so they don’t have time for bad things. We don’t want to see anyone on our team wandering the streets. We practice every other day. The girls have their practice on our days off."
